HOW TO MAKE IT

Vacuum Monster

MATERIALS

DC motor 

plastic motor holder 

propeller 

battery holder 

AA batteries x 2

bottle

mesh fabric

rubber band

googly eyes x 2

rectangular stick 

craft stick

wood block 

corrugated paper 

pipe cleaners x 4

double-sided foam tape

screw

screwdriver

STEP 1

Cut the bottle in half.

Make sure to ask an adult to help you cut.  

STEP 2

Put the mesh fabric on the bottle. 

Place the mesh fabric over the cut end of the bottle. 

Wrap the rubber band around the mesh fabric.  

STEP 3

Screw the motor holder onto the block. 

Take the rectangular stick, block, motor holder, screw, and screwdriver. 

Put the screw through the motor holder

And connect the block and the stick. 

Use the screwdriver to turn the screw to the right. 

STEP 4

Connect the sticks.

Use double-sided tape.

Tape the craft stick underneath the motor holder. 

STEP 5

Connect the wires to the motor. 

Take the battery holder and remove the plastic ends on the wires. 

Twist the copper ends like this. 

Twist by holding the copper end and then twisting the plastic part. 

Repeat for the other wire. 

Connect the wires. 

Red wire to the right side of the motor.

Black wire to the left side of the motor.

STEP 6 

Connect the propeller. 

Push the propeller onto the metal stick on the motor. 

You can use the desk to help push it in. 

STEP 7

Put all the parts together. 

Wrap and tape the corrugated paper around the bottle. 

Tape it onto the craft stick. 

Use double-sided tape to tape the battery holder onto the rectangular stick. 

Put in the batteries. 

STEP 8 

Decorate your Vacuum Monster.

Put on the googly eyes.

Use the pipe cleaners to decorate. 

TRY IT

Flip the switch and try vacuuming small pieces of trash.
